Irish fans heading to Cardiff for the World Cup are in for a serious gouging

Can you recall Ireland getting it in the ear from aggrieved golf fans during the 2006 Ryder Cup? Homeowners, hotels and hostels were charging over the odds for accommodation during the event and we, as a nation, were accused of being opportunistic. Now, with the Rugby World Cup drawing near, it is Cardiff's turn. The Welsh capital will be as close to crammed as a Tokyo subway carriage once the World Cup comes to town, in September, and, as a result, prices are skyrocketing. Many of the city's major hotels are booked out and dorm rooms in some hostels are going for £100 [approximately €141] per night.
