With both sides close to full strength, it was Munster who took apart Leinster at Croke Park, winning out 31-14, with a performance that showed they are back among Europe's elite.
Andy Farrell's Ireland squad caused a stir midweek among Munster supporters, who again were aggrieved that certain players from their province were not chosen.
Given their superb form and consistency, two names in particular sprung up; Gavin Coombes and Tom Farrell.
And while Jack Crowley and Tadhg Beirne were Munster's two best players this evening, Coombes and Farrell were not far behind.
The latter was Munster's star man last campaign and has kept up his form this season.
Today he comfortably outplayed Ireland internationals Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose, and chipped in with a spectacular, highlight-reel try.
Coombes came on in first half, after a distraught Brian Gleeson was forced off with what looked like a possible broken arm.
If anything it improved Munster, as the No 8 stuffed the stat sheet with 18 tackles and a turnover, while he also held up Josh van der Flier over the line at a crucial period in the game.
Needless to say, fans on social media were quick to point out the error of Farrell's ways.
