The Welshman is one of the most respected rugby referees around, simply because he talks to players like adults, as well as refereeing the game with more than a healthy dollop of common sense. The ref is also a well-known champion of LGBT rights and as an openly gay man, has done much to help men and women open up about their sexuality.
