Jamie Cudmore is the last player I'd expect to be wearing boots this swanky.

The Canadian second-row is known for being a bit of a hardman, but his choice in footwear may surprise you. Cudmore is the latest player to opt for an American football styled high-ankle rugby boot in recent months, after Toulon's Drew Mitchell was seen wearing a similar pair earlier this year. While many forwards wore boots with a high ankle in the old days, the newer models are styled like an American football boot, and are much lighter than the old models seen in rugby. With the second row coming in at around 120kg, the extra ankle support is bound to be a selling point for a safer landing in the lineout. Cudmore has been wearing them recently, but he's given them a unique twist for this tomorrow's Champions Cup final against Toulon. He'll be sporting an incredibly colourful pair of brogues tomorrow evening in Twickenham, with Inpho catching a close-up shot for any boot nerds out there who want a better look. I suppose I'm not one to pass judgement. I'm a prop and I wear these... They've big studs at least.
