Robbie Henshaw to miss the rest of the Six Nations

Robbie Henshaw will play no further part in the Six Nations.

The Ireland centre, who suffered a shoulder injury against Italy on Saturday, has undergone a procedure and has been ruled out of the remainder of the championship. Irish Rugby confirmed the awful news on Monday morning after the medical team assessed the camp. It places further emphasis on the fitness of Garry Ringrose who Joe Schmidt revealed could be in line to return for the Wales game which doesn't take place until February 24.

"It's a call we'd be happy to make based on Garry's previous contributions," Schmidt said of the Leinster centre who will be in line to take Henshaw's place and join Bundee Aki.

The better news comes in the forward line though. Tadhg Furlong underwent a scan that revealed a minor hamstring injury but he is expected to be fit for the Wales game. Jack Conan took a bang on his shoulder but is expected to be available for selection for Round 3 as well.
