The Daily Mail have reported that Leinster out-half Ross Byrne will join English Premiership side Gloucester for next season.
Byrne has been a stalwart for his province since making his debut in 2015.
He started in the Champions Cup final loss to La Rochelle in 2023, with Johnny Sexton unavailable, before taking up the mantle as Leinster's first-choice No 10 and starting the 2024 final loss against Toulouse.
This season he has lost his starting to Sam Prendergast and has missed out on recent Ireland squads, despite keeping his high standards.
The 29-year-old has won 22 caps for his country, but with the emergence of both Jack Crowley and Prendergast, and Ciarán Frawley offering a utility back option, his chances of getting back into the frame are slim.
With his brother Harry set to return to Leinster after a reinvigorating loan move to Bristol Bears, a move away makes sense for both parties.
Gloucester are currently in third place in the Premiership under the guidance of head coach George Skivington.
In Byrne they are getting a top-quality No 10, still in his prime, who has amassed 177 caps for one of the best sides in Europe, including 50 Champions Cup appearances.
