Saracens say that callers with an Irish accent looking for tickets ‘will be treated with suspicion’

We suspect that the Saracens ticket office is going to get a lot of prank calls

Thanks to the design of the new European Rugby Champions Cup, there will be even more uncertainty in the final two rounds of games. With only three of the group runners-up going into the last eight, the pressure will be on to finish strong to nab one of the precious places in the knockout stages. In Pool 1, with Clermont expected to finish out comfortably ahead of the rest, it is straight fight between Saracens and Munster for the second spot and wouldn't you know it, the two sides play each other in the next game, at Allianz Park on January 17. Munster, as always, will want to bring a massive crowd with them but the folks at Saracens have other ideas. In the post on ticket availability for the game on their site, Saracens say that 'Callers [to the ticket office] with an Irish accent will be treated with suspicion.' We're pretty sure this is a gag, maybe not a funny one but a gag all the same. Earlier in the post they acknowledge the travelling Irish fans. "Munster are probably the best supported club in Europe,” said a Supporter Service spokesman. “They have already been allocated their 1,000 tickets (10% of the total available) as required by the competition regulations, and any spare tickets will be quickly snapped up on general sale by members of the Munster Red Army. They will all be made to feel most welcome at what we consider to be the most friendly sports stadium in Europe but, with respect to our Irish friends, we would rather see every available seat filled by Saracens supporters.” We know that Munster fans always find a way so we suspect there will be many more than 1,000 Munster men and women in attendance and if you want to try your best to fool the ticket office with your English accent, here's the number; 0203 675 7200
