One of Ireland’s most overlooked players had an incredible debut in France

The Dubliner was one of the provinces key figures, with his play making and goal kicking often dragging his side to victory.

He has multiple appearances in the league team of the season with Ulster, and during his absolute prime was one of the finest players in Europe.

However, despite his consistent excellence, he was often overlooked internationally, even during dips in form from Ireland legend Conor Murray.

On Saturday, he made his debut in the second tier of French rugby, as Brive played out a 30-30 draw with Vannes at home in the Stade Amédée-Domenech.

He ended up with 20 points, scoring two tries, two penalties, and two conversions, while running for 63 metres.

His starring performance also earned him a spot in Midi Olympique's team of the week.

With French rugby known for the more creative and goal-kicking No 9, 'le petit général', he is bound to flourish in his new home.
