There's an old saying in the game that "a rugby ball hops quare".

It means that anything can happen in the game, but in this case, its meaning is quite literal. Clermont Auvergne played Stade Francais at the weekend, and Clermont's Peceli Yato found that out the hard way. After trying to form a maul, Clermont were adjudged to have accidentally gone offside, with the referee awarding Stade a scrum. In frustration, Yato flung the ball into the ground in frustration, before being given an abrupt reminder that those balls have a mind of their own, as it bounced directly back into his face.
