Video: Welsh media herald the ‘best defensive display in the history of rugby’

It seems hyperbole is a village in north Wales

The inquest in Ireland after Wales's deserved victory in Cardiff centres largely on how unimaginative the attacking play was from Joe Schmidt's side. Critics of Schmidt and the style of rugby Ireland have produced during this campaign have been poring through the 45 phases of play that failed to yield a try in the second half at the Millennium Stadium. It's made for depressing viewing/reading for an Ireland fan as hopes of a Grand Slam disappeared under But it seems we'd feel a lot better about ourselves if we just read the Welsh media. Wales Online has gone to town the defensive display from Sam Warburton and Co. While it was unquestionable as seriously impressive rearguard action it may be slightly over-egging it to describe them as the '45 phases that wowed the rugby world' and claim that it was 'perhaps the best display of defensive resolve in the history of rugby.' We can at least take some consolation in the fact that if Wales's defence was that good then Ireland must have at least done something right.
