Manchester City’s new away kit will make you think you’re watching Aston Villa

Earlier this week, we confidently predicted that Manchester City's home kit for the 2017/18 season would go down a treat with supporters.

Before Christmas, suggestions were made that City had planned to use a claret and blue design for Guardiola's second season in charge. And in a closer look at the away shirt courtesy of football strip aficionados FootyHeadlines.com, we can see just what the likes of David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Co. will be wearing away from home next season. Aston Villa, anyone? While it's a drastic departure from City's current away colour scheme, which consists of a predominantly black front with maroon sleeves, it's not the first time that they have used a claret design. You may remember seeing Nicolas Anelka, Joey Barton and Richard Dunne sporting a similar colour scheme with City's third kit in the 2002/2003 season. Older supporters may even recall the below number and it's noted that the club may be paying homage to the away kit sported during the 1989/90 season, when they finished 14th in the First Division with Howard Kendall as manager, a world away from the Etihad-fuelled powerhouse of today.
