An unexpected Manchester United player has been named the 10th fastest in the world in new study

Maybe those behind this study were of the opinion that there were just 10 players in world football.

Because we can come up with a few players who must be faster than Wayne Rooney. I mean... they must! Rooney has come in at 10th on the list of fastest footballers in the world according to a new study conducted by Mexican club C.F Pachuca, who examined the top speed of players over the past year. Rooney's position in tenth spot is definitely the stand-out selection on the list while Real Madrid's Gareth Bale was named the fastest of the bunch.

3. Jurgen Damm - 35.23 km/h
4. Antonio Valencia - 35.10 km/h
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 34.6 km/h

7. Cristiano Ronaldo - 33.6 km/h
8. Theo Walcott - 32.7 km/h
9. Lionel Messi - 32.5 km/h
10. Wayne Rooney - 31.2 km/h

Typically, the talk around the fastest player at Manchester United tends to include Antonio Valencia, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford and the fact that only one out of those three makes the list ahead of Rooney does make the study a little bit suspicious. And the complete absence of such speedsters as Alexis Sanchez, Arjen Robben, Jordi Alba, Hector Bellerin, Marco Reus, Kingsley Coman, Raheem Sterling and Lucas (not that Lucas) is just bizarre.
