Anthony Martial reveals how Louis van Gaal made him a better player

There were doubts about the 20 year old French forward, when he arrived at Old Trafford last summer as a relative unknown, for a big fee. However, he has made 42 appearances in his debut campaign, scoring 13 goals and has been, David de Gea aside, arguably United's best player this season. Speaking to United Review, ahead of Saturday's game against Aston Villa, Martial admitted that he has played more than he expected when he arrived from Monaco, and that he has the United manager to thank. "It's not something I'd really expected (playing so often), but it has been very important for my development," Martial said. "The boss has shown a lot of faith in me and the fact he's played me in so many games has allowed me to make progress and come on as a player." If Van Gaal fails to win a trophy at Old Trafford, but Martial and Marcus Rashford go on to fulfil their massive potential, then the Dutchman's reign will have some silver lining for United fans.
