Argentina players forced to abandon bus parade as fans jump from bridge

One fan fell from the bus and needed medical attention.

Argentina were celebrating their World Cup triumph on an open top bus parade through Buenos Aires, but had to abandon it due to fans jumping from a bridge. Helicopters had to sweep the players away as over four million fans flooded the streets, and the scenes of euphoria were simply too hard to control. Argentina had successfully lifted their third ever World Cup, and just as importantly, Lionel Messi lifted his first, putting him firmly in the number one spot as the greatest player of all time. The scenes of jubilant fans have been broadcasted across the world over the past 48 hours, and it doesn't look like they are going to stop celebrating any time soon. Fanatical Argentinians were even jumping from a bridge onto the bus just to try and be with the players and celebrate with them. Incredibly, one fan fell off the bus and had to be stretchered into an ambulance, but was sill singing and cheering in delight. AFA president Claudio Tapia apologised on Twitter for the late change of plans, but insisted the decision had been taken out of their hands.

“They don't let us get to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk, the same Security agencies that escorted us, don't allow us to move forward. A thousand apologies on behalf of all the Champion players. A pity."
