Arsenal actively try to sign highly-touted striker, fans remain sceptical

Arsenal's failed bid for Alexandre Lacazette has not gone down well with Gooners.

In a somewhat unusual move, Olympique Lyonnais have taken to social media to confirm that they have rejected a €35 million bid from Arsenal for Lacazette.

Arsenal are looking for a new striker and many feel like the Frenchman might be exactly what they need after he found lethal form in Ligue 1 scoring 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season with only Zlatan Ibrahimovic finding the net more.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Lyon refuted the claims made by local paper Le Progres that the North London club made a bid of €48m for the sharpshooter before explaining that he is "irreplaceable" and therefore, not for sale.

Many feel that the bid was far too low for a player of Lacazette's ability with some even claiming that Arsenal made a bid they knew wouldn't get accepted just so it appears as if they were trying to sign the player. Others criticised the club for making a bid lower than the one West Ham made for the player that was rejected earlier in the year.
