Celtic knock back Arsenal’s opening bid for Kieran Tierney

Celtic have reportedly rejected a £15 million bid for Kieran Tierney from Arsenal.

The North London club have expressed their interest in the Scotland full-back but will have to up their bid if they are to pry the 22-year-old away from the Scottish champions. https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/status/1142445072593686528 Tierney is one of Celtic's most promising players and manager Neil Lennon is expecting a lot of interest in him with Brendan Rodgers' Celtic also being touted as a possible destination with Ben Chilwell linked with Manchester City.

‘I would be surprised if there were no bids for a number of players here,’ said Lennon. ‘Even if they are mid-table clubs, they have plenty of money and they are playing in the Premier League. ‘There is big money being quoted for players down there and Kieran is as good as them, if not better. ‘I would be very surprised if we don’t get offers for him – let’s put it that way.’

Ex-Scotland intentional Kris Boyd has said that Tierney will have looked at the success of teammate Andy Robertson and be envious of his success given the caliber of clubs he's currently being linked with.

 “When you get the opportunity to move to some of the clubs Kieran Tierney has been linked with, it doesn’t come along very often," Boyd told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast. "It might just be the right time [to leave Celtic]. You see them in the Scotland squad together, Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, and they are the two that are always compared to each other. “He has seen Andy Robertson lift the Champions League the last few weeks. “That’ll annoy him, he’ll be pleased, but it’ll annoy him in terms of, ‘I’ve been linked with clubs, I could be doing that as well.’"
