Daley Blind reacts to being switched from central defence to left back

Daley Blind epitomises the schoolkid's mentality to football... He doesn't give a damn where he's playing as long as he's on the pitch.

The multi-talented Manchester United man began his first season under Jose Mourinho at centre-half before being shifted out left to make room for Chris Smalling to accompany new signing Eric Bailly in the centre of United's back four. Blind, also capable of playing in midfield, is one of the more versatile players to walk through the doors at Old Trafford and he's quite content to continue in the role he's filled in recent weeks. “I feel good in the left-back position. I can adapt quickly between the two positions,” Blind said in quotes appearing in the Manchester Evening News. “I think I know what is asked of me either at left-back or in the centre of defence. I will always do my utmost best and work very hard and be safe on the ball and make sure my opponent isn't dangerous. “I am happy to go on with this and I am doing okay. I just want to play and help the team.” Blind was signed by Louis van Gaal in 2014, with Mourinho's predecessor well aware of the player's traits from their time together with the Netherlands international set-up. In the summer it was suggested that Blind may be shipped out by Mourinho in an overhaul of the Red Devils squad but if the early stages of this campaign are anything to go by, the Dutchman is to play a key role in the manager's plans. “I know what the manager wants and likes," Blind continued. "His way of thinking about football is great and I have learnt a lot already. “Every manager has his own ideas and that is the only difference there is. But I think I am the kind of player who can adapt quickly and I think I am doing that.”
