After being questioned by the force at the Les Corts police station in Barcelona, Alves was then taken away and driven to the city's courthouse complex in a Mossos patrol car.
According to reports, the alleged victim of the sexual assault - who can't be named for legal reasons - told police that Alves put his hand inside her underwear at the Sutton nightclub on the night of December 30.
She is then believed to have notified security staff in the club, who promptly activated Barcelona city council’s protocol against assaults and sexual harassment.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrived at the scene and took a statement from the woman in question, by which time Alves had left the club.
As per member's of the former Barcelona defenders entourage, as quoted by ABC, Alves denies any wrongdoing, saying that he was at the nightclub briefly but "nothing happened."
