Dundee player forced to play with electronic tag after conviction for assaulting policeman

If you happened to be watching Dundee v St. Johnstone today, you may have wondered what the protuberance on Paul McGowan's ankle was.

Well we can now inform you that it was, in fact, a court-ordered electronic device that the forward has to wear after last week being convicted of assaulting a police officer, his third offence of that kind. Dundee lost the game 2-0 and McGowan would've had to have raced home afterwards so as not to break the 7PM curfew also put in place by the court. Speaking about the player yesterday, manager Paul Hartley said: “Paul will be in the squad and I’m thinking seriously about playing him." "This is his job. He’s got to play. We will use him in the games we can use him in, although obviously we can’t use him in midweek matches. “He’s been one of our key players this season. He’s been consistent. He trains well and he plays well also.
