Speaking on Sunday morning, his manager Thomas Tuchel said that Cavani was unlikely to feature in the game in Manchester.
"There is no good news this morning," Tuchel told Telefoot. "He's undergone exams and there will be more tests here at the training centre.
"My feeling is that it will be very difficult for him to feature in Manchester.
"We must wait a bit more as the exams are still ongoing. The club will communicate on this a bit later.
"I think that the news will not be very good. I still have a little hope, but the first tests were not good.
"I am worried, but only because we are missing key players. In matches like these, decisive Champions League games, you absolutely need your key men as they are experienced in handling pressure in matches like this one."
While it seems almost certain that Cavani will miss the first leg, RMC report that the player's entourage have even suggested the injury may be enough to keep him out of the return leg in the French capital on March 6.
Though Neymar and Cavani will be absent, it seems PSG will be able to count on Marco Verratti for the game. The Italian international had also been an injury concern in recent weeks but returned to action against Bordeaux.Live sport on TV in Ireland this weekend – Football, GAA, Rugby – April 24th to 26th
