According to Sky, it is EFL Championship club Sheffield Wednesday who have been hit with the six-point deduction, which is their second such punishment so far this season.
The Owls were hit with an initial 12-point deduction back in October, in relation to alleged breaches of EFL financial regulations while still under the control of former owner Dejphon Chansiri, and it is believed that this second punishment also relates to Chansiri's time at the helm.
The EFl have released the following statement that explains to the reasons for the deduction, it reads: "Sheffield Wednesday FC are to be deducted six points with immediate effect for multiple breaches of EFL regulations relating to payment obligations, with the club's former owner, Mr Dejphon Chansiri, prohibited from being an owner or director of any EFL club for a period of three years."
"The sanctions on both the club and Mr Chansiri can be confirmed after the parties reached an agreement on the appropriate sanction which was subsequently ratified by the chair of the appointed independent disciplinary commission."
Sheffield Wednesday are already bottom of the Championship table, on -4 points, and this latest deduction will take them to -10 overall.
