VIDEO: Everton fan dumps every Sun newspaper in the bin at airport

The Sun's name has always been dirt on Merseyside since the day it published that infamous front page smearing Liverpool fans over the Hillsborough tragedy.

But it's not just at Anfield where Rupert Murdoch's red top rag is reviled - and it's certainly not just Liverpool fans either. One Everton fan jetting off on holiday at Glasgow Airport showed exactly how much strength of feeling against the paper there still is among fans of bitter Merseyside rivals. There's still a widespread boycott of The Sun (or The S*n, as it's affectionately known) among fans of both clubs and it seems this Toffees fan was keen to keep up the boycott even up in Scotland. The Liverpool Echo shared a video of Brian Kelly dumping stacks of copies of The Sun into a bin which were being given away free at Glasgow Airport https://twitter.com/SportsWankers/status/768426418011246592 The 47-year-old told the paper:

"A friend of mine, Tommy Fletcher, who’s a Liverpool fan, said put the lot in the bin and I gladly obliged. "The rivalry obviously doesn’t come into it when this is involved."

Mr Kelly said that other people in the airport watched him pile up the freebie papers and cram them into bin, but nobody tried to stop him. He added that all football fans should stop buying the paper and newsagents should stop selling it, saying:

"Loads of places now are gladly refusing to sell the paper. Football fans, true football fans, should agree to do the same."
