The big talking point of the first-half occurred in the final few minutes though as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tyrone Mings became embroiled in an ugly altercation. After the Bournemouth defender stamped on Ibrahimovic's head, United's top scorer almost instantly retaliated with an elbow to the defender's face. In the midst of the madness, Andrew Surman was sent-off. It's fair to say that the referee, Kevin Friend, has had better matches. Despite their numerical advantage, United failed to capitalise and pick up the three points as their supporters were left to endure another incredibly frustrating day - see United's previous home matches against Stoke, Burnley or Arsenal for further proof. The post-match press conference was fairly tumultuous and regarding the stamp, Rooney said that "It's wrong in football. To try and stamp on a player's head is wrong, there#s no place for it and I'm sure there will be punishment after," he said. He also stated that he was aware of the incident at the time before adding that "the one I seen (the stamp), I think it's. You know, I've been on the end of studs to the head and it's not nice.
