Fans in Stade de France for France v Germany held in stadium as devastating terrorist attacks hit Paris

Something much more important than football took place in Paris on Friday night.

At least 18 people have been confirmed dead after a series of attacks took place in the north of Paris, close to the Stade de France, where an international friendly between France and Germany was taking place. Explosions were heard from within the stadium and the players looked understandably shaken by the noise. French President François Hollande was evacuated from the stadium during the game according to Le Figaro newspaper. BFM-TV report that a hostage situation was taking place at the Bataclan theatre in Central Paris, hours after the German squad were evacuated from their hotel after a bomb threat. French media reported that a lockdown took place at the stadium at full-time as fans were recommended by police to refrain from leaving. Three people have been reported dead, and others injured, when a bomb detonated at the stadium's Gate J. The death toll is expected to rise and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy that truly puts everything into perspective.
