Football legend Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer

Keegan is affectionately known as 'King Kev' for his footballing success.

The former England manager and forward, 74, was recently admitted to hospital after "ongoing abdominal symptoms", a statement has said.

"These investigations have revealed a diagnosis of cancer, for which Kevin will undergo treatment," it stated.

Keegan is associated widely with the football clubs Liverpool and Newcastle United, the second of which he played for and managed, twice.

He is renowned as 'King Kev' for his footballing success.
