Why is Ole at the wheel?

Manchester United were humiliated at Goodison Park on Sunday and anger is understandably being directed at the players. But is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the right man to be in charge of the massive rebuilding job required at the club? There is nothing in his record to suggest he is. Of course, Solskjaer had to be given the job at the time he was appointed after the run of wins he'd had, but why did United need to give him the job at that stage?
