Former Chelsea player Salomon Kalou could be fined €10,000 for damaging Berlin Wall

The fines most footballers have to contend with come from indiscipline or breaching a club's code of conduct. Salomon Kalou reportedly did something much worse.

The winger, who most of us remember from his six years with Chelsea, apparently made the terrible decision to take a hammer and chisel to the Berlin Wall while being filmed by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenbury ahead of Hertha Berlin's 2-2 draw with Schalke on Saturday. Vandalisation of the landmark, which divided Berlin between 1961 to 1989, can be met with fines of up to €10,000 due to the fact that the wall is a protected monument. The news comes from the Berliner Kurier, which report that Kani Alavi, the chairman of the East Side Gallery, said:
