Alex Ferguson's Manchester United teams were constantly accused by opposition fans of receiving favourable decisions from referees, in particular from Howard Webb. The former referee became a pantomime villain for some Liverpool fans, and admitted that claims of bias towards United affected him towards the end of his career. Steven N'Zonzi appeared to elbow Ryan Shawcross in a game between Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers. Halsey said he had seen the incident, and didn't think it warranted a red card.
