Gavin Bazunu will likely be sent out on loan from Southampton, sooner rather than later.
Boss Ivan Juric said: "I think that the idea of the club is to give him a loan after his injury.
"I think he's a great goalkeeper and now we will see in these seven days what will happen."
The 22-year-old Irish international has only recently returned to fitness after suffering an injury last April and has played for the U21s in two Premier League 2 games.
However, he is not eligible for first-team football, having not been registered in the Saints' 25-man Premier League squad.
In the meantime, Aaron Ramsdale has been first-choice keeper, with Alex McCarthy next in line.
A move to the Championship looked the most likely option, but now a host of clubs are said to be interested.
These include Serie A side Udinese, as well as clubs from Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Udinese's keeper, Romanian Razvan Sava, has conceded six goals in the last two games as his team sit in 11th place.
