Gianluigi Buffon set to join Paris Saint-Germain on two year contract

He wants one last crack at the Champions League

Gianluigi Buffon will be leaving Juventus this summer after a glittering 17-year career with the Italian giants. He has won everything bar the Champions League with Juve, and doesn't want to retire without having another crack at it. Juve came close to knocking out Real Madrid this season, but shot themselves in the foot in the last minute when they gave away a penalty which Cristiano Ronaldo calmly fired into the top corner. Buffon's explosive reaction to the penalty decision got him sent off and rightly so, but also showed just how much he wanted to win the trophy. He might have a better chance of doing so next season, as he will to join French champions Paris Saint-Germain on a two year contract, according to Corriere dello Sport. Like Buffon, PSG have achieved their goal of achieving domestic dominance but have failed to conquer Europe, so both parties will go into next season with the same objective. The 40-year-old clearly believes he still has time left at the top level, refusing moves to the Chinese Super League and MLS. In Buffon, new boss Thomas Tuchel will have an experienced leader in goal, which has been a problem position for PSG ever since they received Qatari investment. PSG have played with one of Alphonse Areola or Kevin Trapp in goal over the past couple of seasons.
