Graeme Souness refuses to back down over his Casemiro claim

Souness said that Casemiro was a good player but not a great one

Graeme Souness has refused to admit he was wrong about his thoughts on Casemiro after Gary Neville tried to get him to change his decision on an Instagram livestream. Casemiro has been one of the standout players at Manchester United - and in the Premier League - this season after joining from Real Madrid in the summer. Despite paying £60m to bring him to Old Trafford the Brazilian has been worth every penny, however when he first joined, Souness was sceptical about the decision to sign him. Back in August, he said:

"He's not a great player. He has never been a great player. I see him as a steady Eddie who will help United be more solid in the midfield."

It's fair to say that since then, those words have backfired and during an Instagram livestream ahead of United's Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday, Neville tried to get Souness to admit he was wrong, but the former Scotland international refused to eat his words. Neville said: "Can we have an apology for your call on Casemiro? Are you changing your mind on him?" Souness quickly intervened, saying: "What did I call him?"

The former United defender then responded: You said he was a good player, not a great player." "No, I said he was a steady Eddie. In that position, I'd be happy to be called a steady Eddie."
