Elliott was not originally meant to be in the Liverpool squad for the clash against Thomas Tuchel's side, however, an injury to Spanish midfielder Thiago in the warmup led to Naby Keita starting the match, and Elliott taking his place on the bench.
The 18-year-old replaced captain Jordan Henderson in the 79th minute and calmly converted his spot-kick in the shootout.
He has missed over three months of football with an ankle injury he suffered against Leeds in September, but returned to action quicker than expected. The attacking midfielder made his first appearance back against Cardiff City in the FA Cup earlier this month, where he scored just minutes after entering the field.
