Irish fans despair as Norwich issue transfer update on Robbie Brady

It could have been Leicester City in the Champions League. Next up for Norwich, though, is Cardiff City at Carrow Road.

If someone had told you after Robbie Brady's Euro 2016 heroics that he would still be at Norwich City on September 1st, you would struggle to believe them. That looks like the case, however. Norwich boss Alex Neil has insisted, since July, that there have been no firm offers for the 24-year-old. Leicester City had been linked heavily with Brady but reports, in July, had a £20m valuation scaring the league champions off. On Tuesday, Neil issued a further update. It certainly seems unlikely that Brady will be making a move before the 11pm deadline, tonight. Neil said:

"I don’t anticipate that [a move] will be the case. The Bradley Johnson [£6m deadline day transfer to Derby] was a different situation. "Obviously we had just gone into the Premier League at that stage and we had acquired Robbie Brady so someone was going to have to lose out and the fact that we managed to get that amount of money for Bradley, to me it made great sense. We got a younger player with massive scope and both for business and football reasons it made sense. "Nothing is happening [regarding Robbie]. Unless somebody is making offers, then there is nothing to discuss. There are numerous players who have been linked with moves away but no-one has put any firm bids in."
