Jack Byrne does not want to play with Manchester City next season

There are worse places you could learn your football.

Jack Byrne is highly unlikely to be a part of the Ireland squad for Euro 2016, but the Dubliner shouldn't worry too much. His performances for Dutch bottom-feeders Cambuur this season have earned him serious respect in the Netherlands, and we'd be surprised if he isn't a feature of the Ireland senior squad sooner rather than later The 19-year-old is on loan from Manchester City, but his future is uncertain come the summer time. He could return to Manchester to play in the reserves, but it seems as if the teenager has smarter plans than that. Speaking to Dutch newspaper AD, the soon to be 20-year-old admits that he would like to continue his football development in Holland.

"The stadiums are full and how the teams play football appeals to me. "I have to wait and see what Manchester City want, because I have a two-year contract there. "Netherlands is a good school for me. I can develop further here."

Pep Guardiola is unlikely to be handing out chances to any youth prospects in his first full season at the Etihad, so it seem to be a very clever move if he is going to take his chances with another Dutch side in the Eredivisie with Cambuur set to be relegated. Byrne's form has been one of the few bright parts to Cambuur's season, as the Irishman has grabbed three goals and three assists in 24 matches.
