Jose Mourinho rejects chance to manage his former club

Jose Mourinho has reportedly rejected the chance to become the new Benfica manager. The Portuguese side are currently in fourth place in the league after 15 games, seven points behind FC Porto at the top of the table. Mourinho started his career in management with Benfica when he took charge of the club for a brief spell in 2000. Mourinho has been out of work for less than a month. The Portuguese coach was sacked by Manchester United following the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on December 16. He is said to be seeking an opportunity with a team in a more prestigious league and two of his former clubs are understood to be interested - Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
