Jose Mourinho hits back at City for lacking ‘class’ in new documentary

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that rivals Manchester City lacked class after releasing their new eight-part documentary series with Amazon Prime.

'All or Nothing' goes behind the scenes of City's record-breaking Premier League winning campaign and shows several exchanges between players and manager Pep Guardiola. One particular scene in the series before Manchester United take on City at Old Trafford sees narrator Ben Kingsley describe the game as: “It is Guardiola versus Mourinho once more; possession versus defence; attacking football versus ‘park-the-bus’." The documentary also shows City fans singing about Mourinho and his 'park the bus' style of play after the game, which was looped over footage of his post-match press conference where he refuted the correlation between City's possession statistics and their dominance on the pitch. Ahead of United's trip to Brighton on Sunday, Mourinho said that City did not need to be disrespectful with their production of the documentary and that the club lacked class with their series.

"You can have a fantastic movie while respecting others," Mourinho told Sky Sports in his pre-match interview. "You don't need to be disrespectful to have a fantastic movie. You can be a rich club and buy the best players in the world but you cannot buy class and they showed that clearly, that was really obvious."

Elsewhere Mourinho admitted that he couldn't be happier with midfielder Paul Pogba despite persistent speculation of a rift existing between the two. Mourinho made Pogba captain for United's season opener with Leicester City last weekend and the Portuguese manager insists that he cannot ask more of him this season.

"The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks and I've never been so happy with him as I am now. That's the truth," said Mourinho. "I cannot demand more from him, I cannot ask more from him. He comes here on Monday [before the Leicester game], he trains for three days, I asked for his support, for his contribution in an important match for us when the team had difficulties, and he did it did better and for more time than we could expect. "When he says he did it for the fans and for the team, it's exactly what I want, exactly what I demand from my players. "He is working well, playing well, he does [it] for the fans, for the team, and that's what I want. I repeat, I couldn't be happier than I am."
