Jose Mourinho’s choice of captain versus Real Madrid is a complete slap in the face for Ander Herrera

It seemed for the life of us that Ander Herrera was the natural heir to the captaincy throne. The Spaniard looked to be in line for the captaincy gig given that club captain Michael Carrick is 36-years-old and it is unlikely he would be playing week in week out. Herrera was officially unveiled as vice captain over the summer only for Mourinho to say that Manchester United does not have a vice captain. Well, Carrick isn't starting against Real Madrid tonight so you'd think Herrera would be donning to captain's armband but that is not the case.
