Jurgen Klopp responds to sack question after Napoli hammer Liverpool

"We were not working as a team. That is why we lose games."

Jurgen Klopp was asked about his future as Liverpool manager after Napoli hammered the Reds 4-1 on Wednesday night. The Serie A side fully deserved their victory and could have scored more on an embarrassing evening for Liverpool. Following the game, Klopp attempted to explain his side's slump and was asked if he was worried about being sacked.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chelsea dismissed Thomas Tuchel. Klopp was asked if he had concerns that his job could also be on the line. "Not really," the Liverpool manager said. "Our owners are rather calm and expect me to sort the situation and not think someone else will." The German coach has been in charge at Anfield since October 2015 and has achieved tremendous success. Under Klopp, Liverpool have won the Champions League, the Premier League, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup. Klopp attempted to explain his side's poor form following the defeat to Napoli. The former Borussia Dortmund coach said that his players 'were not working as a team' in the Champions League tie. "It was really tough to take but I would say not that difficult to explain," Klopp told BT Sport. "Firstly, Napoli played really well and we didn't. That is the first explanation for the defeat. The two penalties we concede, they were both a little unlucky. "The next two goals we concede are handed to them on a plate. That is not cool and we should have defended better in the first place and, of course, in the last moment as well. "We were not compact defensively or offensively.
