Jurgen Klopp to battle with Borussia Dortmund for €30million rated starlet

Events this week could be crucial to how Liverpool's summer transfer plans work out.

The Reds are level with Borussia Dortmund at 1-1 ahead of the second leg of their Europa league quarter-final at Anfield. If Merseyside witnesses the home side progressing to the last four on Thursday, Liverpool will move a step closer to the prospect of Champions League qualification if they can win out the competition outright. That obviously will make them more attractive to possible summer signings, which is something Jurgen Klopp will be praying for as he battles his former club on and off the pitch for the purchase of a €30million Bundesliga starlet. The Guardian is reporting today that midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is being lined up by the European rivals as a summer purchase from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The 20 year old is a current Germany Under-21 international, and has been in outstanding form for the Bundesliga side, alongside fellow Liverpool target Granit Xhaka, who it now appears is heading to Arsenal. The club are reluctant to part with both players this summer, but a fee in excess of €30million may be too good to refuse. Dortmund are hoping for an injection of youth into their central midfield if, as expected, Ilkay Gündogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both depart this summer. Liverpool are also looking to freshen up their engine room, with James Milner, Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva all likely to be allowed speak to other clubs this summer.
