Louis van Gaal ready to axe several high-profile Manchester United flops

Louis van Gaal and Manchester United spent quite a lot of money last summer, but it appears as if none of the Dutchman's key purchases of from the summer of 2015 have worked out. The club has lacked an attacking spark while midfield has been turgid despite the Dutchman trying a number of combinations. If van Gaal survives until the beginning of next season, he is likely to be given a large war-chest of money again to bolster his squad, but he may have to finance any spending by dumping some of his high-profile signings in the process. The Sun are reporting that Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin will both be offered for sale this summer, after disappointing opening campaigns at Old Trafford. Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, as well as sub-goalkeeper Sergio Romero, could also be sold in a summer clear-out as the club look to try and compete with an expected busy summer at cross-city rivals Manchester City. Depay is likely to be the most high-profile casualty this summer as he has failed to live up to any of the hype from his time at PSV, while the ex-Southampton midfielder also played well below expectations.
