"I accept that and I say that hopefully, they understand my situation: we were playing at home and in the Champions League semi-final."

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen revealed that one of the reasons Liverpool fans were reluctant to show their love for Suarez was also due to his off-the-pitch antics in the famous second leg at Anfield. "He had his hands around this throat, I was watching it all unfold and it got out into the press and I think that angered a lot of Liverpool fans."
