Despite his desire to leave the club, interest in Ronaldo has been sparse. Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all distanced themselves from a potential transfer. Atletico Madrid also backed away from a deal. United's poor start means they find themselves bottom of the Premier League after two games and both the players and owners facing a serious inquest.
