The former England forward is said to have met with Man United's football leadership group, led by new sporting director Dan Ashworth, to discuss his next move.
Man United reportedly made it clear that Greenwood's future lies away from Old Trafford amid interest from several European clubs. Greenwood trained alone at the club on Monday.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Getafe in Spain, where he scored 10 goals in 36 appearances.
Several clubs, such as Valencia, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica and Juventus, have been linked with Greenwood, but it appears as though he is set to join Marseille.
The French club, who recently appointed former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi as their new coach, are in 'advanced talks' about signing him.
Man United value Greenwood at £40m (€47.3m), but Marseille's bid is reportedly worth around €30m (£25.3m) with a 'big sell-on clause', according to Fabrizio Romano.
Greenwood last played for Man United in January 2022 and has a contract at Old Trafford until 2025, with the club having the option to extend for a further year.
He scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the Red Devils after coming through the club's academy.
Man United look set to re-invest the transfer fee they receive for Greenwood by making a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He denied all the counts and criminal charges were dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation from the investigation and new material came to light, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
