Manchester United have agreed to sell 19-year-old defender Willy Kambwala after he rejected a contract extension to keep him at the club.
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano the French centre back will be moving to Villareal for £8.5m.
The sale includes a buy back clause for United, however the amount is still not known.
Kambwala made his debut in Decemebr 2023 at the half way point in last season after United entered an injury crisis across the back luine.
Although only making 10 appearances for the Red Devils he quickly become a favourite of the United faithful, praised for his aerial prowess, passion and tackles.
Many United fans tipped the teenager to go on to do great things at Old Trafford, however this is now unlikely.
Kambwala rejected the contract extension in search of more game time with The Red Devils expected to bring in two new centre backs this Summer.
With a sale of £8.5m, United have made a tidy profit off the centre back after having bought him from French club Sochaux for approximately £3.6m.
Kambwala made up part of a contingent of young United players to have come through the youth ranks which includes Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
The young French defender won the FA Cup with Man United this season, playing 15 minutes in the competition and being an unused substitute in the Final win over Manchester City.
His contract at Villareal will run until 2029 with his medical expected tomorrow.
