Footage during coverage of the match showed the Spaniard was in an offside position by a matter of inches. Marouane Fellaini put the result beyond doubt with a header three minutes from full-time but it was Paul Pogba's pass at the beginning of the second half which had United fans purring. Pogba picked up the ball from inside his own half and sent a sublime diagonal through ball into the path of Wayne Rooney. Rooney failed to hit the target however and you must think that it was the perfect opportunity for Rooney to finally surpass Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 249 goals for the club. Unfortunately for Rooney, it wasn't meant to be but United fans nonetheless were in awe of the pass the Frenchman had delivered. https://twitter.com/ManUtdVines/status/818930040620666884 Twitter, as you would imagine, exploded as a result. https://twitter.com/1woodford/status/818932793812090883 https://twitter.com/mightYdre_/status/818932866885283841 https://twitter.com/CaptainMarvel_7/status/818928304220676096 United will look to secure their passage to the final when they play Hull in the second leg on January 26 at the KCOM Stadium.apparently Juan was offside, but at this point it doesn't Mata. pic.twitter.com/Zgq4fJ97G9
