Miroslav Klose hangs up shooting boots but international defenders should still be afraid

Record World Cup goalscorer Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement from football.

Klose, who scored 16 goals in World Cup tournaments, has said he will now join the Germany National Team's coaching staff. "We're looking forward to Miro,'' said Germany head coach Joachim Löw.

"I am sure that we coaches, just like the players, will benefit very much from his presence and involvement. "He will not just be with us on the training field, but also contribute his views to preparing for opponents and to game and video analysis."

Renowned for his aerial ability and goal poaching prowess, Klose concluded his international career with 71 goals in 137 appearances, making him Germany's record goalscorer.
