Mohamed Salah deletes Twitter account after final cryptic tweet

Who knows what sparked Mohamed Salah's decision to distance himself from social media?

Various theories are doing the rounds about why Salah decided to delete his Twitter account on Tuesday, with some suggesting that the Liverpool forward had had quite enough of the accusations of diving in recent weeks. It has also been suggested that Salah intends to "get in touch" with the Egyptian FA in the hope of resolving their long-standing dispute. Salah posted a cryptic tweet just hours before deactivating his account which read: "2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real." Salah fell out with the Egyptian FA last year over sponsorship conflicts, when his image was used in conjunction with the national team's sponsor WE despite the fact that Salah has a separate personal sponsorship deal with Vodafone. Salah has been in great form in recent weeks and is the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 16 goals to his name so far this term. The 26-year-old scored his 50th Premier League goal in the Reds' 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, a result which keeps Liverpool four points ahead of Manchester City in the title race and it remains very possible that Salah simply deleted his Twitter in order to concentrate on his football in what will be the most important few months of his career to date.
