Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool deal to 2023

Liverpool have received a massive fillip as they kickstart their preparations for 2018-2019 with Mohamed Salah signing a new five-year contract without a release clause.

The Egypt international, who joined the club 12 months ago, has been rewarded for a record-breaking debut season in which he supplied a staggering 44 goals across all competitions in just 52 games.

The multi-award winner, who netted twice at the World Cup after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League final, is now among the highest earners at the club.

Salah endured an gutting end to the previous campaign, limping off against Real Madrid in Kiev on 31 minutes after tangling with Sergio Ramos as the Spanish giants were crowned continental kings for a third time in succession.

He then sat out Egypt’s Group A opening defeat against Uruguay as a pre-caution, before scoring in the losses to hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia as the Pharaohs exited the tournament without a point.

The 26-year-old is currently on holiday and will link up with Liverpool ahead of their tour to the United States for the International Champions Cup as he looks to continue his upward trajectory.

Jurgen Klopp will oversee the first day of the club’s pre-season training on Monday at Melwood.
