The Carabao Cup game between AFC Wimbledon and Newcastle United on Tuesday night has been postponed.
Heavy rain has caused flooding around the outside of the ground which has caused what appeared to be a ‘sinkhole’ to open on the pitch.
Storms have swept across the country over the past 24 hours and The Cherry Red Records Stadium has been hit hard by the wet weather.
A clip circulating on social media appears to show a huge sinkhole on one corner of the pitch.
It also shows the refreshment area behind the stand completely underwater.
There is no news yet as to when the fixture will be rearranged for with a fixture headache on the horizon for Wimbledon if the damage turns out to be as bad as it looks.
They were due to host Accrington Stanley on Saturday in League Two before welcoming Crewe next Tuesday.
The clubs are currently in talks with the EFL over a solution to the postponement but the game must be decided before the fourth-round ties start on the week commencing October 28.
The last time the two sides met was over 24 years ago when Wimbledon won 2-0.
Howe’s side were hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s Premier League defeat to Fulham.
