After his debut destruction of a Mark Hughes managed QPR, the Michu bandwagon was set firmly in motion and boy he didn't disappoint.
Michu finished his season with 18 goals and a fair few assists to boot, and the fact he was classed as a midfielder, when he played for the Swans more often as a centre forward, made him an even more attractive proposition for Fantasy managers.
His success wasn't just in the league, as he played a crucial role in Swansea's League Cup winning campaign of that year.
Michu wasn't just a flat-track bully. He tormented Arsene Wenger's Arsenal on multiple occasions, and one of the long-haired magicians most famed displays came when he netted a brace in the Emirates Stadium which prompted Arsenal fans to boo their own team.
Michu's season started well, with five goals in his first 10 games in all competitions. He was then the victim of an ankle injury that required immediate surgery. October 24, 2013 was the date of his last competitive goal.
He most recently played with Spanish side Real Oviedo.
After leaving Swansea, Michu said that despite "loads of treatment and countless operations" he had never been able to fully recover from the ankle injury which "started overnight."
